TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Dianne Miller Pilates Teacher Education Program provides comprehensive teacher training and continuing education for Pilates teachers. New and experienced teachers alike benefit from this structured approach to teaching Pilates safely and effectively.
Teaching Pilates is more than just “knowing the exercises”.
The curriculum incorporates:
- teaching techniques for the complete repertoire of Pilates mat work and apparatus exercises
- the philosophical principles of the Pilates method
- understanding the Pilates method in relation to functional movement
Learn the theory behind the exercises.
This unique program provides in-depth exercise analysis for teaching the full Pilates repertoire, including:
- identifying the primary intent of each exercise
- applying current biomechanical theory to the original Pilates repertoire for the most up-to-date approach to teaching Pilates
Develop teaching skills for using the Pilates method
as a creative tool for movement education.
Discover the tools for effective assessment and program design, using:
- observation of postural and gait patterns
- exercise progressions through a range of skill levels
- modifications and variations for optimal performance
The Dianne Miller Pilates Center is Canada’s original Pilates facility.
We are committed to teaching whole body health through the study of Pilates – as it was meant to be taught.
Our teaching staff are graduates of the Dianne Miller Pilates Teacher Education Program, providing expert and consistent instruction from beginner to advanced levels. Internships provide valuable experience for student teachers, who participate in many of our programs under the supervision of senior staff.
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS
COMPREHENSIVE PILATES TEACHER TRAINING
- preparation to teach Pilates in either a private studio setting or in the fitness field.
- open to advanced students and teachers of the Pilates Method who meet pre-requisites - internship required.
CONTINUING EDUCATION for PILATES TEACHERS
- provides the opportunity to broaden and deepen knowledge base for Pilates teachers.
- open to teachers of the Pilates Method who meet pre-requisites - no internship required.
Each program is offered in two levels, and includes theory modules, seminars, and a final examination.
Theory Modules are offered as a progressive series of ten - 3 day modules. All modules must be completed in sequence and can be applied towards requirements for a Dianne Miller Pilates Certification program attended independant of a certificate program (letters of attendance available upon request).
Level 1 – Pilates Mat Work and Universal Reformer
Requirements:
- knowledge of basic anatomy and Pilates exercises (go to Pre-requisites for details).

Level 2 – All Pilates Apparatus
Requirements:
- knowledge of basic anatomy and Pilates exercises (go to Pre-requisites for details
- DMPTEP Certificate – Level 1 (Mat and Reformer)
- Theory Modules 7 – 10 * (total of 68 hours)

* Accelerated Certificate Programs - Level 2 Certificate Programs may be offered in an accelerated schedule of Theory Modules for candidates with sufficient background.
